Just when you think the Haval Big Dog is the most famous Chinese car name we might encounter this year, Great Wall Motors pounced on with its new King Kong Cannon, which was just unveiled on its domestic market.
To be honest, King Kong-a name we just like to write-may be named this way because (in the name of the largest) it has a length of 5635 mm, a width of 1880 mm, a height of 1815 mm, and a wheelbase of 3410 mm-reported to an international website.
The tray is also larger, stretchable 1820 mm x 1500 mm x 495 mm.
This makes it larger than Australia's best-selling utes, Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger, although King Kong will also reportedly offer a smaller variant, comparable to Australia's most popular models.
It is also larger than our Cannon. Cannon is 5410 mm long, 1934 mm wide and 1886 mm high. The length of the pallet is 1520 mm/1520 mm.
At present, the details around King Kong are still a bit weak-according to reports, we have obtained this information from the Chinese Ministry of Industry-but it is expected that this car will be fully displayed at the upcoming Guangzhou Auto Show.
However, moving all these metals is expected to be Great Wall’s existing engine series. In Australia, it is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with a power of 120 kW and 400 Nm, as well as that eight-speed car.
It also contains a taller, straighter front end and a new headlight design that may penetrate the rest of the GWM Ute series.
Great Wall has not yet confirmed King Kong for the Australian market.
