Celebration follows completion of construction

Louisville, KY – Metro Councilmembers Stuart Benson (District 20), Robin Engel (District 22) and Kevin Kramer (District 11) as well as representatives from the Louisville Metro Parks Department will be joined by groups such as Derby City Pickleball to celebrate the completion of three years of construction at Charlie Vettiner Park in Southeastern Jefferson County.

The Construction, which began in July 2019 created 4 new tennis courts and two pickleball courts in a previously unused portion of the park and made room for the old tennis courts to be converted into 10 new pickleball courts. Additionally, paving improvements were as included to this project to make the park easier to access. In total more than $1.3 million, in mostly Metro Council designated funds, has been invested into the park over the past five years.

Following the grand opening, persons visiting the courts will have the opportunity to take part in either an 11a.m. or Noon class on pickleball taught by Josh & Stephanie Daniels of Pickleball Euphoria. In addition to free pickleball instruction, Tikiz of Louisville Shaved Ice and Ice Cream will be at the park (from 11am – 1pm) to sell refreshments and Derby City Pickleball will be hosting drawings for those in attendance. 100 pickleballs will also be given away to those who are in attendance for the event.

The clinics are free, but due to class size limitations, advanced registration is required. To register ahead of the event, please contact Angela Webster at 574-3465.
