Before March 2020, did you give a lot or any thoughts on the types of cabin air filters used in cars? Not particularly high. Ford has already thought about its cabin air filter game, and it will launch its new Ford Refresh95 filter in the fourth quarter of this year.

Also coming later this year: 2022 Ford Maverick is now open for pre-order

According to the automaker, the Ford Refresh95 cabin air filter will be launched at the end of 2021 and is suitable for certain vehicles. The lineup includes the new Maverick launched in the fall, as well as the new Bronco Sport and Mustang Mach-E. Filters can be purchased at Ford dealers and installed on compatible vehicles.

Ford said that by 2023, the new air filter will become a standard configuration for most of its product lines.

What is the point of all this? Ford hopes to "help reduce microscopic particles that may come from inside and outside the vehicle." This includes particles smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter, 28 times smaller than the average human hair.

It is worth noting that the Ford Refresh95 filter cannot guarantee any effect on COVID-19. COVID-19 is often attached to water droplets that are usually about 1 micron in size. The micronAir proTect filter is available as an option for Ford in Europe and can filter down to 0.05 microns.

So, you know, if this still exists this fall (it will be) or 2023 (almost certainly at this rate), you still need to wear a mask, get vaccinated, etc. (Side note: Get vaccinated. Seriously. Stop taking horse pills.)

What can Ford Refresh95 do? Capture up to 99% of allergens, such as dust and pollen, capture bacteria-sized particles, and filter out smoke and haze. Still a good upgrade, isn't it?

Ford Refresh95 should be applicable to most vehicles in the next few years. So, please breathe a sigh of relief.
