WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. —The Northwest Clean Air Agency (NWCAA) has issued an air quality alert from 6am on Saturday, September 10th, to 6pm on Sunday, September 11th, for Whatcom, Island and Skagit Counties due to unhealthy to very unhealthy air quality forecasts. Wildfire smoke from east of the Cascade Range began sweeping into Whatcom County today, Friday, September 9th.

The air quality is expected to be unhealthy to very unhealthy. Everyone should stay indoors. Avoid all strenuous activity. Close windows and doors if it`s not too hot, set your AC to recirculate, and use HEPA air filter if possible.
